Hi all,
After a week of breaking my sleep habits, I finally really did it. I managed to sleep past 7, 8 and even 9 (to say nothing of 10). It was slightly glorious, and I enjoyed basking in it. However, Franklin came home very early (supposed to be around dinnertime), and was somehow under impression that he was moving to a different house. Well, his dad seemed to think that housemom had told him that. So Hum got to sort that all out.
After a quick peach I spontaneously called Schmee and ended up going to her house - just in time for lunch. Nice, right? After a short rest hour I followed them out to the "Omi Sculpture Fields" - which features huge works of modern art. However, at 90 degrees with about 90 percent humidity in overgrown fields, this wasn't much fun. So we stuck it out for about 35 minutes. An interesting sidetrip, but I was glad we hadn't drove more than 15 minutes for it...and that it was free!
And yes I have a few pictures, but no, I have not uploaded them yet. And Sam didn't give me the lobster pictures before he left. So we are all bereft together.
I made it back in time to put dinner together, and whip up some chocolate avocado mousse for dessert. Franklin went out for a movie night at another house, so I've mostly been bumming around. And calling my parents.
Hope all is well,
Steph

As Normal as Possible
Hi all,
Today (after a non-successful attempt at sleeping in...evil middle child decided to scream just to make noise...could hear housemom chewing her out to stop...), I woke up pretty early. I know that middle child is probably just acting out because school is almost out and they're moving soon, but it still made me a little cranky. However, it has to be worse for housemom, so I just got a bowl of cereal as quickly as possible.
Flo came over around 10ish and after I got ready we drove to Stockbridge. After lunch we made it to the Norman Rockwell museum. He had a great sense of humor, and I thoroughly enjoyed the museum, although it was a bit steep - $10 with a student ID.
Plus the security guards were hardcore, god forbid you breathe on a painting...At one point we were looking at celebrities that he embedded in a painting, and the guard freaked out because Flo's toes were on the tile close to the wall (there were carpets around the room, with a 1.5 foot boarder of tile), and I had my fingers about 4-6 inches from the painting, pointing out the various people. Made me realize how extremely old Sean Connery is...Yikes.
Anyhow, we still had a good time and got ice cream afterward. Although neither of us were feeling so great this afternoon, and I'm pretty sure it's because the place we had lunch at put MSG in the their food. I think after the juicing and all this organic food that my tolerance is gone. So I passed out for 2 hours this afternoon (though I woke up convinced it was at least 3 hours...misreading military time...), and felt crappy for another 2 hours. At least I'm well rested now?
Anyhow, I made some calls tonight to reconnect with people (isolated...hard to forget I live in a bubble sometimes...). I also tried my lemon curd and vanilla cake, it was pretty good, although nothing unbelievably so.
Hope all is well,
Steph

It's Official - I'm in Forbearance!!
Hi all,
That was definitely the exciting news of the day. My Americorps account finally got set up properly and got my forbearance requests sent through (except my private one and Perkins...not sure if it'll work?). Other high lights included: getting caught singing along to my Ipod in the co-op (At least I wasn't dancing...) during a grocery run, getting my 2nd to last poster (ahem, James?), baking a cake for house mom's birthday tomorrow, and using an Oxford comma.
It's a little bit of a challenge to be stuck at home on a day "off". When the weather gets better, it'll be easier because I can go off exploring some. However, I have a hard time not coming down and volunteering to help out of habit. I had a partial morning's work, which really helped to skew my brain. However, it means that I get to sleep in tomorrow. So that's lovely.
I gave in and picked up my mattress, trying to figure out the strange off smell in my room. I'm glad I didn't find anything there, but I'm still a little stumped. I wonder if my vent is connected to the bathroom? Scary thought...
Anyhow, I'm off to wash some dishes. Perhaps a movie with myself later - if I get daring, I could even light my candles...ooh, the nerve!
Hope all is well,
Steph
