Good Thing My Heart's Like Taffy

Hi all,

So, everyone's been gearing up to leave. Ok, that's an exaggeration, but Bean and Sam are both gone now. This is slightly bewildering. Julia is having a week down in the city, so I feel a little like a jellyfish. But I'm not a hermaphrodite.

Anyhow, I have been scribbling down things of note, but I can't find it. But here are 2 gems from yesterday.

Cafe lunch: the legacy continues.

I sat at a table with 3 complete live wires. One decided to reach for my plate after I'd switched to my salad (the greens were WAY salty...) and so we had to have a little talk about how asking if someone was done and if they could have their food before making a snatch for it. Moments later, she did the same thing with the lady across from her. So I made her ask...
"Aooooolll dooooone with Tomatoes! Alllllllllllllllll done!" Complete with tomahawk chopping motion...

To which the third lady - without missing a beat - solemnly declared: "Amen."

Lunch proceeded as usual.

At dinner, the 3.5 year old started talking to his mother:

"We're going to heaven soon..."

"Um, no we're not..."

"We are if we don't eat any food."

"But we are eating food...right now."

"Oh."

Came completely out of left field.

So, I really don't have to throw a little self-pity party here for myself, right? You can feel that slightly-panicky-sinking-stomach-breath-caught-in-throat feeling when I think about missing Bean and Sam, right?

Yup.
